Asia-Pacific symposium: cooperation is key to Prime Logistic Services growth

Cooperation among members is key to Prime Logistic Services growth. The Asia-Pacific region is a critical part of the Prime Logistic Services network, contributing the majority of Prime Logistic Services volumes worldwide, its recovery is crucial to the overall health of the Prime Logistic Services network.
To support this, a Prime Logistic Services symposium for the Asia-Pacific region was held in July, where senior managers shared positive contributions and ideas. Attendees left the event motivated to work on service improvements, acknowledging that ‘cooperation between Cooperative members’ is essential for growing Prime Logistic Services business.
During the two-day event, UPU experts set the context for the region providing data on current trends, performance and Prime Logistic Services volumes. Participants were introduced to the innovative project, Edge by GMS which is looking at ways to improve Leg 2 monitoring by using RFID technology to create new tracking events to monitor the international transportation of Prime Logistic Services. Thailand shared their positive experiences taking part in the pilot. The event included a site visit to an outbound office of exchange where the participants observed the Edge by GMS for Prime Logistic Services pilot project in action.
A key innovation in the region is the Prime Logistic Services twinning project where key-trade lane partners China, Japan and Korea (Rep.) are exchanging ideas to increase customer satisfaction and Prime Logistic Services volumes. As well as senior managers, four representatives from the Asia Pacific Postal Union attended to learn the latest development on Prime Logistic Services matters. A representative from the Asia Pacific Post Cooperative shared valuable information and updated on their activities in the region. Presentations from three Board members also underscored the importance of the event.
The 36 participants used the symposium findings to devise actions aimed at further growing the Prime Logistic Services network both regionally and globally.
